THE CLIENT

Advanced Group Services specialises in the recruitment and provision of industry-specific skilled labour to clients in a range of sectors including Building and Civil Construction, Infrastructure, Industrial and Engineering, Rail, and Mining. Advanced Group Services is unique in that the company has five separate divisions – Advanced Group Services, AG Rail, Brix Projects, E-Tech NSW, and E-Tech Australia – with each division performing their own functions in the industry. With the aim to ensure customers have the opportunity to work in a flexible, challenging, and enjoyable environment, Advanced Group Services are committed to providing man power and ensuring safe work practices.

THE CHALLENGE

Advanced Group Services sought to develop and implement an Integrated Management System that complied with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and AS/NZS 4801 in preparation for a certification audit. Though procedures did exist, these procedures were not documented or formalised, and thereby no proper system was in place. This was due to the difficulty in catering to the requirements of each division, especially in their individual processes and procedures. Another challenge was training and getting all members on board with now having to document the outputs of processes already followed.

OUR SOLUTION

Compliance Council recommended the eight week process. With a gap-analysis, Compliance Council identified and addressed the organisational gaps against ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, and AS/NZS 4801:2001, and a revised Integrated Management System was developed. What was unique about Compliance Council’s approach was that it emphasised the importance of every team member in the company being involved and collaborating to achieve a successful outcome. This collaboration streamlined the implementation process by minimising the quantity of road blocks that may have been encountered.

THE OUTCOME

Advanced Group Services kicked off the project with Compliance Council in September 2015 with the implementation of an Integrated Management System across each division. Advanced Group Services had their stage 2 certification audit in early-February 2016 which resulted in a few minor observations in relation to the method to evaluating performance against objectives and targets, otherwise no non-conformances were raised.

The project was finalised and certification was received mid-February 2016. As a result of achieving certification, E-Tech NSW immediately won a significant tender that resulted in a new major contract for the business. The management team of Advanced Group Services have noted the significantly less amount of time required to on board new staff since implementation of the system.

CLIENT FEEDBACK

From Emma Sheehan, HSEQ Manager of Advanced Group Services:

I would like to thank you for all your hard work in helping Gavin and I implement our Integrated Management System and achieving Certification from Best Practice in such a short period of time. Compliance Council have made a huge difference to all of our companies and our companies’ future and we couldn’t have done it without the help of your team. I would strongly recommend Compliance Council to other organisations.
